About Ted's Home Stay

In the island you can observe Planting, Harvesting, Toddy Tapping etc, or just trek through the farm enjoying the natural surroundings. You can also take a Country Boat Ride through the Main Canal in the farm and engage in Bird Watching. Another way to keep yourself engaged is to Visit Temples, Churches and other places of interest in the near vicinity. You can do a village expedition either by foot or on a bicycle with the aid of map and in the process observe local community life and activities like Traditional Fishing and Farming.

The island offers you both a large expanse of water and an intricate network of canals to explore by boat. Traditional motorboats or speed boats can be hired. In addition to this you can try out Country Boat rides, Traditional Country boat sailing or even try out rowing a Traditional Canone called "Vallam". The Sunset Cruise in a country boat is the best way to end the day in the Back Waters. There are other activities to keep yourself occupied during the stay like Pole and Line Fishing (fishing rods are available) you can even try out Swimming in own pool in the island. If you are interested in

the Traditional Cooking of the region the host's wife is always ready to offer you insights and tips or even demonstrations for those interested in the Ayurvedic Tradition of Kerala, consultations could be arranged on request (will be charged). You can either engage in a number of activities during the Ted's Home Stay or enjoy a quite time all the yourself just relaxing in the peaceful , quite and green-surroundings.

Facilities

The Ted's Home Stay provides for two private waterfront rooms A/C and non A/C with a thatched pavilion adjoining the hosts house. The rooms are spacious ,well furnished and done up in the traditional Kerala style of architecture. (The host can also provide on request a well furnished room in house in addition to the existing cottage).

The cottage has a modern toilet with running water and basic facilities like Power and Telephone are also available on the Ted's Home Stay. There is also a generator to backup the electricity. The Cottage has a small refrigerator and an electric kettle to make coffee or tea. An extra bed and E-mail facilities are also available on request. "All this for just $25 Only per day!"

A very detailed and elaborate brochure is kept inside the cottage which introduce you to the family, the cottage the farm , the place and region and the activities you can engage in during the Ted's Home Stay. This will form the basis of your interaction with the host and help you to organizing your holiday.

A tastefully done up cottage set in an idyllic surrounding, traditional home made food ,and personal attention of the host and his family for the guest are the highlights of the Ted's Home Stay.

The Ted's Home Stay can provide an ideal base to explore backwaters as Kumarakom, Kottayam, Alappuzha are within 45 Minutes by boat from the property. In addition to this the major tourist destination of central and southern Kerala (Like Munnar, Periyar, Kovalam, Trivandrum etc.) are within 4 Hours drive from the property.
